Whiteout Conditions Cause Travel Woes

Strong winds with gusts up to 35 miles per hour along with snowfall caused travel problems for people Tuesday.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department urged motorists that travel was not advised throughout Grant County, especially on north/sound roads. Sheriff Nate Dreckman said the Grant County Highway Department is out in full force and has been unable to keep ahead of the wind driven snow.

Motorists have reported visibility reduced to zero at times. “I couldn’t tell if I was on the road or headed toward the ditch,” said one person about their drive in northern Grant County.

In Crawford County, officials are reporting numerous slide-offs from Monday night’s snow.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory for the day.
