In Spring 2014, WPRE will be relaunched with an updated format and unparalleled commitment to local Prairie du Chien area coverage. WPRE will also sound better when heard on it’s new frequency, 104.3FM!
We know you have lots of questions about the new WPRE. Here are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.
Q: What kind of music will you play?
A: Classic Hits. Pop and rock favorites from the late 1960′s through the late 1980′s. But, we’ll certainly not limit ourselves to that either.
Q: Will local people be on the air?
A: Absolutely. Prairie’s Own, WPRE will be live and local each weekday featuring local announcers. Listen to the Prairie Street Morning Show with Todd Crotty from 6am-9am. Middays with Gabe Buch from 9am-1pm. Afternoons with Jared Schultz from 1pm-5pm. Dan Moris will provide local news updates. Plus, expect to hear regular local features with local news-makers, experts, and interesting people. More programming details will be coming closer to the re-launch date of WPRE.
Q: What about sports content?
A: Prairie’s Own WPRE will be the primary home for Prairie du Chien athletics broadcasts and features. WPRE will also carry some weekday daytime Brewers games as well as Iowa Hawkeyes football.
Q: When will the re-launch happen? When I can I hear WPRE on 104.3FM?
A: Soon after our radio station and staff moves to it’s new downtown Prairie du Chien location. We’re anticipating sometime by Spring of 2014.
Q: What are you doing until then?
A: We are steadily adding programming to our existing Cruisin’ 980 AM WPRE broadcasts in preparation for the full switch-over to our new format as “Prairie’s Own, WPRE”. In the meantime, you’ll still primarily hear Cruisin’ 980′s oldies format on the AM band.
