Athlete of the Week

1. Blake Thiry (Prairie du Chien High School) Blake won the Division 2 215 lb weight class state championship at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships over the weekend. Blake opened his tournament with a win by fall in 1:22 in the quarterfinals. He then won by fall in the semifinals in 3:21. In the finals match, Blake won by MD 12-0 to win the title.

2. Tristan Steldt (Fennimore High School) Tristan won the state championship in the Division 2 165 lb weight class at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships over the weekend. Tristan won by TF 15-0 in his quarterfinal match and again in his semifinals match 18-3. Tristan won by MD in the finals 10-0 to win his 3rd state title,

3. Tyson Imhoff (Highland High School) Tyson won the state championship in the Division 3 157 lb weight class at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships over the weekend. Tyson won his quarterfinal match by fall in 3:08. In the semifinals, he won by a 5-3 decision. In the finals, Tyson won by MD 11-3 to win the title.

4. Grant Mathews (Riverdale High School) Grant won the state championship in the Division 3 285 lb weight class at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships over the weekend. Grant won by fall in every match on his way to the state title. In the quarterfinals, he won in 2:20. In the semis, he won in 1:30, and in the finals, he won in 3:37.

5. Jaxson Busse (Iowa-Grant High School) Jaxson won the Division 3 165 lb weight class state championship at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Championships over the weekend. Jaxson won by fall in 2:57 in the quarterfinals. Then he won by MD 8-0 in both the semifinals and finals to earn the state title.
