The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department made two separate drug arrests after traffic stops in the past week. Early Saturday morning a deputy stopped a vehicle with expired registration on Highway 35 near DeSoto. 32 year old Rachael McBain of West Salem exhibited signs of drug impairment, and she was on probation for possession with intent to deliver amphetamine and felony bail jumping. A K9 search by Prairie du Chein Police turned up methamphetamine, fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia. McBain was taken into custody and transported to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, 3rd offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, and a probation warrant. She was also cited for expired registration, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and a driver’s license restriction violation.

On Wednesday, June 28th a member of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in Gays Mills. 55 year old Cynthia Herlitz of Gays Mills did not have a valid driver’s license and exhibited signs of drug impairment. She also attempted to conceal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that was discovered in her vehicle. Herlitz was taken to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Jail on charges of 3rd offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and operating a motor vehicle while revoked.
