McGregor City officials met with their Main Street contractors Tuesday and decided to halt the Main Street construction project for now because of the historic flooding. Contractors will monitor the site to determine when is is safe to resume work as flood waters and groundwater begins to recede.
City officials continue to meet daily to evaluate the flood situation and discuss any needs that have arisen, providing updates to Emergency Management. Flood mitigation efforts put in place are working. City workers are monitoring pumps and levees around the clock. They will continue to make adjustments as needed.
Over the weekend, City officials from both McGregor and Marquette were in communication with the railroad as they expressed their intent to raise the railroad tracks to be able to stay in service for as long as possible. Much of that work is now complete.
As more information becomes available, we will provide updates.
