Prairie du Chien High School staff and students spent Monday assisting people moving from residences and placing sandbags at needed locations. The Prairie du Chien local Marine Recruit office assisted as well with the operations of the day. Sandbagging is continuing at the Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution while orders continue to come in. A secondary sandbagging location is currently being discussed between the city and county.
Mayor Hammer has declared all roads that are barricaded closed except for residents who live in the area.
Those who need sandbags and have no reasonable means of picking them up should call the PDC Chamber of Commerce 608-326-8555. The city and county are looking for volunteers who would be willing to place sandbags around the city and Crawford County. Please call 326-0266 if you would like to volunteer.
