The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, which includes Sgt. Matt Moser and K-9 “Rexo”, recently finished their first certification with the United States Police Canine Association which was hosted by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office in Waterloo, Iowa. Rexo is trained for narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension, and has been busy in his first year with the sheriff’s office. They will be attending the Dogs for Law Enforcement seminar next month for their annual patrol certification and training scenarios. The K-9 Unit is also having a fundraiser. Rexo was purchased with all donations and fundraisers and no cost to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Department budget. A limited supply of Rexo stuffed animals are available for $20. To reserve one, email Sgt. Moser at mmoser@claytoncountyia.gov. A response email will be sent with detail for payment, pickup and shipment. All funds go to the Clayton County K-9 Unit.
