Grant County Accidents

A two-vehicle crash In Grant County Wednesday resulted in Minor injuries. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened on the Highway 61/ County HH overpass of Highway 151. 82 year Eileen Dunne of Dickeyville Attempted to make a left turn onto the entrance ramp of Highway 151 northbound and turned directly into the path of a vehicle driven by 38 year old Jeff Layde of Cuba City that was westbound on County HH. And the vehicles collided. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and both vehicles’ front and side curtain airbags deployed. Both Dunne and Layde sustained apparent minor injuries and were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation. Dunne was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way when Making a Left Turn.

On 03/17/2023, at approximately 9:58 a.m., the Grant County Sheriffs Office took a report of a one vehicle crash with airbag deployment on
Camel Ridge Road in the Township of Cassville.
After a brief investigation it was determined that Mattie Jo Meier, 18, of Potosi, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu traveling East on Camel
Ridge Road in the Township of Cassville. Meier stated that she looked away from the road briefly to change the radio and when she looked
back to the road she was veering toward the south ditch. Mattie stated she attempted to correct the course of the vehicle but was unable to
and entered the ditch on the south side of the roadway. Meier struck an embankment for the driveway at 1009 Camel Ridge Road before the
vehicle stopped. No injuries were reported.

On March 19, 2023 at approximately 11:20 am, the Grant County Sheriff Office took a report of a 2 vehicle crash on HWY 133 in Muscoda
Township. Kenny Kast, 38 of Avoca, was westbound on HWY 133 driving his 1997 Buick. Brian Kelly, 49 of Roselle IL, was driving his 2020
BMW eastbound on HWY 133. Kenny turned left in front of Brian. Brian swerved to avoid a collision, but still struck Kenny’s vehicle. Both
vehicles were towed from the scene. Brian and his juvenile passenger were not injured. Kenny received a minor injury and was later taken by
private vehicle to be checked out. Kenny Kast was cited for failure to yield right of way while turning left. Assisting at the scene was VP
Towing.
