The Prairie du Chien Common Council met Tuesday night and approved several events for this upcoming summer, including the 350th anniversary celebration of Marquette and Joliet’s expedition sponsored by Prairie du Chien Main Street. That event is scheduled for June 17th and 18th. The council also approved the Prairie Villa Rendezous and Prairie du Chien Fire Association’s Flea Market that same weekend. The Fire Department will also be observing the department’s 150th anniversary the weekend of July 14th through the 16th. Plans are also underway for Prairie du Chien to host the Great Lakes WaterCross Jet Ski Races at the St. Fereole Island Beach/Villa Boat landing and Parking Lot June 23rd through the 25th.
The council also approved a 20 percent increase in sewer usage rates for septic haulers; and also approved using General Engineering for commercial building inspections. The city will continue using General Engineering for residential inspections.
