As an annual public service the Prairie Rod and Gun Club will open its Mill Coulee Shooting Range to the general public for a pre-deer season sight-in of their firearms free of charge. The club has been offering this event since the late 1980’s.
The rifle range, located on Mill Coulee Road five miles north of Prairie du Chien, will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13, and noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Nov. 16-18.
The range is open for club members only at all other times. Club memberships for the remainder of 2022 can be purchased at Stark’s Sports Shop. 2022 memberships will be available December 1st.
A club member will be at the range during the open hours for non-members and will act as the range safety officer. Only shooters will be allowed on the range while shooting is taking place and all firing will take place from the shooting benches. Sandbags and gun rests are available for bench rests.
Only paper targets are allowed on the range. Bring your own or use a target supplied by the club. Safety glasses and hearing protection are suggested and a limited supply will be available for shooters to use.
