The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department has released information on several recent incidents.
On Thursday afternoon, November 3rd a Prairie du Chien man received minor injuries when his bicycle was hit by a car. It happened at the intersection of Vineyard Road and US Hwy 18 in the Township of Bridgeport. 56 year old Erick Keppler of Prairie du Chien was crossing the highway in the crosswalk when 63 year old Michael Morovits of Seneca was making a right hand turn at the traffic lights and struck Keppler on his bicycle. Morovits was cited for failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian / bicyclist and non-registration of vehicle.

A Soldiers Grove woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Friday, October 28th on County Road X in Clayton Township. 21 year old Makayla R. Faust was traveling north on County Road X and she veered off the highway onto the shoulder. She over-corrected and lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned. Faust was injured and was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Faust has been charged with operating a motor-vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant and failure to keep a vehicle under control.

A Garnavillo man was arrested by Crawford County officers on Saturday, October 15th after stopping a stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on Rush Creek Road in Freeman Township. The truck was initially stolen from a location in Sparta. The driver was identified as 41 year old Stanley Colsch. A passenger in the pickup was identified as 58 year old Tod Westonof Lansing. Colsch displayed indicators of drug impairment and failed a field sobriety test. A search of the truck turned up a plastic baggie containing several grams of methamphetamine. Colsch was placed under arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance.
