On January 14, 2025 at 10:32 AM, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s E911 Center received a report of a semi tractor trailer rollover at the intersection of IA-26 and Highway 82 in Lansing, Iowa. A semi tractor and livestock trailer was exiting the Black Hawk Bridge (Highway 82) onto IA-26. The semi failed to negotiate the curve and rolled onto its side. The trailer was loaded with seventy five head of cattle. The cattle were contained within the trailer and were then transferred from the over turned trailer to other livestock trailers and transported to a nearby location to be held temporarily. Two of the cattle died as a result of the accident. Assisting at the scene was the Lansing Police Department, Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office, Allamakee County Emergency Management and the Iowa Department of Transportation.
