Pair of Traffic Stops Leads to Drug Charges in Crawford County

On Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, Sheriff Dale McCullick report that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Shane Klemz (40) of Richland Center, Wisconsin, in the Township of Bridgeport.

Prairie du Chein Police Department K9 Sheisty responded to the stop. K9 Sheisty alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. Law enforcement personnel searched the vehicle locating methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Klemz exhibited indicators of drug impairment, and he was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation violation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department.

On Friday, September 27th, 2024, Sheriff Dale McCullick report that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Monica Knockel (45) of Monona, Iowa, and occupied by her passenger Henry Berns (31) of Garnavillo, Iowa, in the City of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

Prairie du Chein Police Department K9 Phoenix responded to the stop. K9 Phoenix alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. Law enforcement personnel searched the vehicle locating methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Knockel exhibited indicators of drug impairment, and she was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance (3rd Offense), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia,  and obstruction. Also, she was cited for operating with a suspended driver’s license and an equipment violation.

Berns was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction.
