Over the past few years, members of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and Prairie du Chien Police Department have been organizing and training with area fire department and emergency medical services personnel to implement Crawford County Rescue Task Force Teams (RTF).
Crawford County Rescue Task Force Teams will consist of trained and equipped law enforcement, fire department, and emergency medical services personnel that will assemble and prepare for deployment into the scene of a violent critical incident to expeditiously render aid to the critically wounded.
Crawford County Rescue Task Force has nearly one hundred volunteer members from local fire and medical agencies serving the county. The members have participated in Introduction to Rescue Task Force, Active Shooter Incident Management (ASIM), and Stop the Bleed trainings. RTF Teams will continue to train with the next training sessions taking place in September. The upcoming training will be full-scale scenario-based training that will give members an opportunity to work together through a violent critical incident.
Crawford County Rescue Task Force Teams have been able to acquire sixty-five ballistic vests for fire and medical personnel through raffle, donation, discount, and department funds. In addition to the vests, funds were used to purchase quick response medical carriers that will be used to extract the critically wounded from the scene to an ambulance for advanced care.
