Grant County Board of Supervisors approve Sheriff Nate Dreckman as their County Administrator

Lancaster, WI – On August 20, 2024, the Grant County Board of Supervisors approved a contract for the first County Administrator. The creation of this position is part of the ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the county government. After a selection process, the Board of Supervisors appointed Sheriff Nate Dreckman as their County Administrator, starting October 1, 2024. Sheriff Dreckman will resign as Sheriff effective September 30, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. and will assume the duties as County Administrator on October 1, 2024, at 12:00 a.m. Sheriff Dreckman will notify the Governor’s Office, as by Wisconsin Statute, when a vacancy occurs in the office of sheriff, the Governor makes an appointment until the next election. The process of selecting a new Sheriff will be initiated promptly to ensure a smooth transition of leadership in the Sheriff’s Office. “It has been an honor to serve as the Sheriff of Grant County for the past 12 years. As Sheriff, it was my goal to push the Sheriff’s Office to a new level; based on the personnel we’ve hired, I feel that we have accomplished that goal. Our staff works hard to adhere to our core values of respect, teamwork, continuous improvement, and integrity, and I have always tried to lead by example in those areas. I know whoever the Governor selects to replace me will continue to move the Sheriff’s Office in a positive direction and will be responsive to the citizens we serve. The County Administrator position offered the opportunity to serve Grant County in a different role and to help all of our county departments and offices provide the best services they can to our citizens. I look forward to the challenge of this new position and working with the county board, department heads, and constitutional officers to continue moving Grant County forward.” stated Sheriff Nate Dreckman.
