Search Warrant Leads to Arrest for Child Pornography

On July 23, 2024 the Prairie du Chien Police Department executed a search warrant at 229 South Michigan Street in Prairie du Chien.  The search warrant was obtained based on information received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and an ongoing investigation by the Prairie du Chien Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation.

Information received from NCMEC indicated that Child Sexual Assault Materials (CSAM) were downloaded by an internet service account associated 229 South Michigan Street.  Through the use of subpoenas and search warrants for user details a specific suspect was established.

As a result of the previous subpoenas and search warrants, and the search at 229 South Michigan Street a male suspect was arrested.  Shannon R. Gander, age 47, was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail.  Charges of seven counts of Possession of Child Pornography have been requested to be filed by the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office.

This investigation continues and items seized during the search will be processed for further supporting evidence of the charges.
