On Monday March 24, 2025 at approximately 7:45am the Prairie du Chien Police Department was dispatched to an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Iowa Street and South Marquette Road.
Officers responded and located an excavator and skid steer that were being hauled on trailer behind a dump truck had overturned. The dump truck was being operated by Austin Goodwater, age 32 of Prairie du Chien. The trailer overturned while the vehicle was negotiating the round-a-bout at the intersection. Based on video of the crash, speed is believed to be a contributing factor.
One lane of Highway 35 was closed while crews worked to recover the overturned equipment. Additional damage is being assessed to the road, sidewalk and storm water system.
The police department was assisted on scene by the Prairie du Chien Fire Department, the Prairie du Chien Public Works Department and Milo’s Towing.
