Prairie du Chien Man Arrested After Attempted Burglary

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Prairie du Chien Police Department responded to a business on the 600 block of N. Marquette Road for a report of an attempted burglary.  During the investigation, information was gathered which led to a residential search warrant being granted by the Crawford County Court.  The search warrant was executed by the Prairie du Chien Police Department during the evening hours of March 6, 2025, on the 100 block of St. Lo Drive, in the City of Prairie du Chien.

As a result of the search warrant evidence was gathered that supported the arrest of Lukas D. Benish, age 31 of Prairie du Chien.  Benish was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was booked for charges of Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property and Trespass to Land.

Two additional suspects were also identified as being involved with this incident.  Further criminal charges will be referred to the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office regarding their involvement.

This case is ongoing and further criminal charges may be referred to the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office.

Assisting the Prairie du Chien Police Department during this investigation were members from the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
