Single Car Crash Leads to An Arrest in Clayton County

On October 25th. 2024, at approximately 10:18 p.m., the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle rollover accident on 115th Street near Firefly Avenue, west of Monona. A preliminary investigation showed that David Allan Gelo (45) of Prairie du Chien, WI was operating a 2011 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on 115th Street. Gelo had pulled off onto the shoulder too far, causing his Jeep to tip over into the ditch. Gelo had minor injuries but refused medical treatment on scene. Multiple signs of impairment were detected from Gelo as law enforcement made contact with him. Gelo was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further testing. A search warrant was obtained and a legal blood draw was performed. Gelo was arrested and held in the Clayton County Jail charged with Operating While Intoxicated 2” Offense, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted on scene by the Monona Police Department, Monona Fire Department, MFL Ambulance Service, and Reggie’s Auto.
