The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a call on October 7, 2024 around 2:32pm advising of a train versus a tractor accident at the intersection of Highway 24 and 128th Street between Fort Atkinson and Jackson Junction. This accident resulted in a fatal injury and is under investigation by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office and Canadian Pacific Railway. Additional details will be released at a later time when the investigation is complete. Multiple emergency crews responded to and assisted at the scene.
