Clayton County Incidents From July to Early August

innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

 

On July 16th, 2024, at approximately 8:30 pm Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to a Saint

Olaf residence for a possible domestic assault. When deputies arrived, it was determined Brittany

Ziegler had struck her significant other with a vehicle causing serious injury. Ziegler also assaulted a

juvenile witness and then fled in her vehicle. Deputies located Ziegler and conducted a traffic stop

on the vehicle. Deputies noticed numerous signs of impairment and after further investigation,

Ziegler was placed under arrest for Operating While Intoxicated. The adult victim suffered serious

injuries and the juvenile victim suffered minor injuries. Ziegler’s charges are as follows: OWI 1st

offense, Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd offense, Willful injury-causing serious injury, Serious injury by

vehicle, Assault causing bodily injury, Possession of controlled substance (marijuana) 1st offense.

 

On July 21st, 2024, at approximately 1:30 am Clayton County Deputies witnessed a vehicle traveling

at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Highway 13 and Fawn Hollow Road. A Traffic stop

was initiated and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Jennifer Juchem. Deputies noticed

numerous signs of impairment. After further investigation, Jennifer was placed under arrest for OWI

2nd offense. The defendant was then transported to the Clayton County Jail.

 

On 7/28/2024 at approximately 2:25 am Clayton County Deputies were called by the Guttenberg

Police Department to assist them with an individual unresponsive at the Guttenberg Kwik Star.

Deputies arrived on the scene and witnessed a male in the driver seat of a black SUV parked next to

a gas pump. The male eventually became conscious. The driver of the vehicle was identified as

Kevin Glassmeyer of Cedar Rapids. Deputies noticed obvious signs of impairment from Kevin. After

further investigation, it was determined that Kevin was under the influence of an intoxicant and was

arrested for OWI 3rd offense. Kevin was transported to the Clayton County Jail.

 

On July 28, 2024, at around 9:30pm the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a car

versus tractor accident on Great River Road near Pioneer Avenue. It was determined that a 1973

John Deere 4230 operated by Karl Hefel from Holy Cross was traveling from one of his fields to

another field on Great River Road heading west when he was stuck in the backend of his tractor by a

2009 Ford F-150 operated by Constance Bamsey of Holy Cross. After an investigation was made at

the scene it was determined that Hefel was at fault for the accident and was cited for Failure to

Display Reflective a Device on a Slow Moving Vehicle, as well as Failure to Use Flashing Lights on a

Slow Moving Vehicle. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol,

Guttenberg first responders, Holy Cross first responders, and Holy Cross Fire.

 

On 8/3/2024 at approximately 2:30 am Clayton County Deputies witnessed a black Ford pickup

traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated near the intersection of Highway 18 and

Dogwood Ave. The driver was identified as Dylan Hering of Minnesota and the passenger was

identified as Zachary Buskirk of Minnesota. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted

and deputies located numerous drug paraphernalia items as well as THC products. Buskirk was

found to be in possession of a firearm and was determined to be a Felon. The driver was issued

citations then released and the passenger was placed under arrest and transported to the Clayton

County Jail.
