Suspect Charged in Hit and Run in Fayette County

***UPDATE to hit and run accident on July 9, 2024, involving a blue Ford Mustang***

On July 9, 2024, at 9:34AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a two-vehicle accident on Hwy 150, just south of the Eldorado hill.  Witnesses stated that a black SUV type vehicle rear-ended a blue 2005 Ford Mustang operated by Andrea Rue of West Union, then continued northbound on Hwy. 150, leaving the scene of the accident.  Rue was slowing down for a tractor near the roadway when the collision occurred.  Minor injuries were reported in the accident and deputies searched for the vehicle that left the scene but were unable to locate it at the time.  The public was asked for help in locating the black SUV, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office followed up on several tips.  On July 24, 2024, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation and located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle, which also had matching paint transfer and damage consistent with the damage done to the Ford Mustang.  Upon investigation, it was learned that 19-year-old Jackson Wedo of Postville was driving his 2017 Dodge Durango north on Hwy. 150 and collided with Rue’s Ford Mustang, then left the scene.  Wedo was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Following Too Close.  Sheriff Marty Fisher would like to thank the public with their assistance in locating this vehicle.
