On 07/11/2024, The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single motorcycle crash with injuries near the intersection of Highway 35 and Budworth School Road.
At approximately 3:15PM Joseph Fopp, 58, of Texico, Illinois was northbound on HWY 35 on his red, 2023, Harley Davidson motorcycle with a large group of other motorcyclists.
Witnesses in the group reported Foppe appeared to slump over in the seat of his motorcycle, and began veering towards the southbound lane. Foppe continued into the southbound lane, and struck the guard rail. Foppe was ejected from his motorcycle as a result of the collision.
Witnesses immediately assisted Foppe at the scene, and attempted life saving measures. Foppe was later transported to the Grant Regional Heath center by EMS, where he would be pronounced deceased.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Lancaster Police Department, West Grant EMS, Lancaster EMS, Bloomington Fire Department, The Grant Count Coroner’s Office, and B&M Tire and Towing of Bloomington.
