The City of Prairie du Chien Wastewater Department would like to give Public Notice that the Wastewater Treatment Facility experienced a flood pump failure on the morning of July 6th, 2024. The event was reported to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources pursuant of
NR 210.21 (4). Due to the pump failure, the Treatment Facility could not discharge wastewater under normal operations and the UV disinfection system was flooded, damaged and remains inoperable. Therefore, the discharge from the wastewater facility is not being disinfected at this time and the City would ask the all people and their pets reserve from swimming in this area of the Wastewater Treatment Facility’s outfall area.
