Truck and Boat Trailer Jacknifes in Grant County. Driver Flees Scene

On June 14th at approximately 4:11pm, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one-vehicle crash on County Q East near the intersection with Stanek Road in Castle Rock Township.

A witness reported that a truck pulling a boat and trailer had been eastbound on County Q when it locked up its brakes approaching a corner and lost control. The boat trailer began to fishtail before it jackknifed, which caused the boat and trailer to strike the rear passenger side of the truck box. The boat then fell off the trailer and came to a rest in the ditch. Witnesses stated the male driver unhooked the trailer and eventually left the scene in the truck, leaving the boat and the trailer in the ditch.

After investigation, it was found that Josey Faulkner, age 45 of Patch Grove, had been the operator of the 2004 Ford F-350 pickup truck involved in the crash. Faulkner had been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured. Faulkner told Deputies he had left the scene and was trying to arrange towing to have the boat and trailer removed. Faulkner never did notify Law Enforcement of the crash.

Faulkner was cited for Failure of Operator to Notify Police of an Accident.

The truck received moderate damage as a result of the crash. The trailer received severe damage and the boat appeared to have minor damage, both were towed from the scene.

Wegner Auto Service out of Richland Center assisted at the scene.
