“A public safety statement was released via social media last evening due to the amount of emergency assets involved in this incident. Due to the close proximity to schools, parks and residential areas we wanted to get ahead of the inevitable rumors and false assumptions. Our goal was to calm the fear of something more sinister transpiring and add some clarity to the facts as we knew them at the time. Over the course of the last few years we have seen, investigated and cited an increase in aggressive, unsafe and irresponsible driving. This case highlights just how dangerous these activities can be. A series of events lead to a 17-year-old young man being injured. Parents, have these conversations at home. Incidents like this can be avoided with safe, responsible and accountable operation of motor vehicles.” Chief of Police Kyle Teynor
This case remains under investigation and more follow-up is needed before any charges are considered for those involved. A 17-year-old has been identified by our department as the driver of the vehicle.
The police department was assisted by Prairie du Chien Fire Department, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Gundersen Ambulance and Gundersen Medlink Air.
