2 Vehicle Crash in Construction Zone with injuries
On Tuesday July, 18 2023 at 10:47 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash with injuries in the construction
zone at STH 80 and St. Rose Road. Emma D. LaRue (18) of Benton was stopped on St. Rose Road waiting for a dump truck to unload material into a paver. The construction
crew motioned to LaRue to move her 2007 Jeep Liberty around the dump truck and continue east bound across STH 80. Unknown to that
work crew, the flagger holding the northbound traffic allowed a group of stopped vehicles to start traveling north. As LaRue’s vehicle entered
the roadway, a northbound 2017 Jeep Cherokee driven by Julie A. Mowbray (59) of Cuba City collided with LaRue. Both drivers were
evaluated by Southwest EMS. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and had to be towed from the scene. The Sheriff’s office was assisted
by Southwest EMS, Humphreys Transport and Towing of Shullsburg, SOS Towing of Platteville and the Cuba City Fire Department.
Van vs Crane
On Tuesday July 18, 2023 at 2:43 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle vs. crane crash in the construction zone at
HWY 35/61 and Kelly Ln. Dona M. Houston (81) of Potosi was traveling north in her 2012 Silver Kia SEDONA EX Van when she swerved right to avoid an oncoming
vehicle. Houston’s van collided with a crane being operated by Patrick J. Ryan (67) of Janesville. The van sustained heavy damage to the
passenger side but was able to be driven from the scene. The crane had a scratch on the counter weight. The work crew did have orange
traffic barrels in the road to direct traffic away from the crane. No one was injured in the crash.
Two Vehicle Crash
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 4:39 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash on CTH XX east of USH 151.
Jill C. Busch (54) of Benton was traveling east on CTH XX in her 2023 Mazda CX-5. Angela L. Lindholm (47) of Belmont was also traveling
east on CTH XX in her 2014 GMC ACADIA SLT-1. Busch checked for traffic and pulled slightly to the right to make a U turn. Lindholm thought
Bush was pulling to the right and drove left to pass. As Lindholm was attempting a pass, Busch continued with a U turn and the vehicles
crashed. Neither of the drivers were injured in the crash. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office was Precision Towing of Platteville and Hinderman
Towing of Dickeyville.
