A Platteville man faces several charges after eluding a Grant County Deputy who was trying to initiate a traffic stop during a seat belt check. The deputy observed the vehicle traveling 42 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on County Road F in Stitzer. The vehicle accelerated and passed a vehicle in a no passing zone. During the pursuit, speeds reached around 100 miles per hour while traveling north on County F toward Highway 18. The Deputy requested assistance from the Fennimore Police Department who went to the County F and Highway 18 intersection where the vehicle eventually stopped. 24 year old Trevor D. Baker was arrested and charged with Eluding, Possession of THC and Possession of Drug paraphernalia, Speeding, Passing in no passing zone, and operating after revocation. Baker was also arrested on a probation violation and taken to the Grant County Jail.
