The latest projections from the National Weather Service have the river reaching a level at or near 24 feet by Saturday afternoon, April 29 with a gradual decline to 23.2 feet by Tuesday, May 2.
Sandbagging is continuing at the Prairie du Chien Correctional Institution while orders continue to come in. A secondary sandbagging location is currently up and running with volunteers and city and county staff behind WPRE/WQPC. There have been approximately 30,000 bags of sand filled and delivered where requested.
Residents who have garbage pick up in areas affected by high water should place totes on a roadway not covered by water. For example, residents with pick up in the alley of South Beaumont place in the front of the residence on Beaumont Road.
