Flood Update: State of Emergency Issued for Prairie du Chien and Crawford County

The City of Prairie du Chien and Crawford County have issued a State of Emergency for the flooding along the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers.

Mayor Dave Hemmer and Crawford County Chairman Tom Cornford both signed in cooperation of all residents of Crawford County. “During times of flooding it is essential we have collaborative government actions to protect all citizens of Crawford County” said Mayor Dave Hemmer. Chairmen Cornford added “The city and county will unite jointly through this flood to ensure actions are taken for the betterment of all of Crawford Country”.

The latest projections from the National Weather Service have the river reaching a level at or near 21.5 feet early next week.

SANDBAG OPERATIONS – Bags have been filled and delivered to the location at the corner of East Washington St. and North Ohio St. Those who need sandbags should call the EOC at 326-0266. Municipalities and townships who need sandbags should contact their chief elected official. The city and county are looking for volunteers who would be willing to place sandbags around the city and Crawford County. Please call 326-0266 if you would like to volunteer.
