Boscobel Man Arrested After Discharging Firearm Inside Home

At approximately 11:39 p.m. on Wednesday, 2/1/2023, Grant County dispatch was contacted by the resident of 208 Park Street advising his neighbor in the adjoining duplex may have discharged a firearm through the wall of his residence. The neighbor believed the male who discharged the firearm was intoxicated. Boscobel Police responded along with assistance from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
 
Upon arrival, officer determined Hans Weigel, age 39 discharged a .45 caliber handgun from inside his residence. The bullet travelled through the wall of his residence and into the adjoining duplex, the bullet was recovered. 

Weigel, who was suspected of being intoxicated at the time of the incident, was subsequently arrested for operating a firearm while intoxicated and taken to the Grant County Jail. An additional charge of 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety will also be referred to the Grant County District Attorney’s Office.

No one was injured in this incident.
