The Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to several accidents this week. On Wednesday, 19 year old Nathan Morris of Livingston, was driving a pickup south on Doc Brooks Road south of Enke Road when the truck began to slide on the gravel roadway and eventually rolled several times coming to rest in the ditch. Morris was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital in Prairie du Chein and later taken by Med Flight to Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse. A passenger in the truck, 18 year old Cheyanna Armstrong of Arkansas was also ejected from the vehicle. Armstrong was transported to Crossing Rivers Hospital for her injuries. On Thursday Morning the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one vehicle crash on Barker Hollow Road, north of Military Ridge Road, in Millville Township. The caller reported finding a truck in the ditch with nobody around. The responding Deputy was later able to make contact with the registered owner of the vehicle, 71 year old Keith Loney of rural Prairie du Chien. Loney told the Deputy he had been operating his pickup around 1am on Barker Hollow Road when he fell asleep and went into the ditch. Loney eventually got a ride back to his home and didn’t notify law enforcement of the crash. Loney was not injured in the crash and was cited for Failure to Notify Police of an Accident 2nd Offense and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.
And at about 7:15am Friday morning the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a one vehicle crash involving a Smelser Township work truck. 58 year old Daniel Jenamann, of Cuba City, was traveling eastbound on East Quarry Road when deer jumped out in front of the vehicle. Jenamann swerved to miss the deer and went into the steep ditch and struck a culver and a fence line. Jenamann was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
