Officials Respond to Hunting Accident Near Wyalusing

Several area agencies responded to a report of a hunting accident Monday afternoon. The incident happened near Wyalusing Park. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received radio transmission from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch about a hunting accident in the backwaters of the Mississippi River involving a person who had been shot in their arm and leg. 49 year old Scott Imes of Mukwonago, Wisconsin was duck hunting and his wife, 51 year old Dawn Imes was with him along with their two dogs. While Scott Imes was getting back into their boat from the shore, the firearm discharged one time, striking him directly in an arm and leg. First responder / fire department personnel from Bagley, assisted by a private boat from a Cuba City Fire Department member were able to reach the victim and he was transported to the boat landing and brought from there to Med-Flight which had landed at the park. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to this incident along with Bagley Fire/First Responders, West Grant EMS, the Bloomington Fire Department, along with the Wisconsin DNR Conservation Wardens. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office assisted by taking the initial 9-1-1 call and remaining on the line with the caller. The incident is being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
