The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Platteville Police Department, and the University of Wisconsin Platteville Police Department will be taking part in the National Faith and Blue weekend on October 7th . National Faith & Blue Weekend facilitates safer and stronger communities by engaging law enforcement officers and local residents through the connections of faith-based organizations. An event has been planned in partnership with Rolling Hills Church on October 7th from 5:00p7:00p at their church. From 5:00p-6:00p, law enforcement will be on hand displaying equipment, a drone demonstration, and a K9 demonstration. After the displays and demonstrations, a meal will be provided with a short program to follow. The goal of this event is to connect Grant County Law Enforcement with Hispanic and other minority community members, but it is open to everyone. They are also working to recognize that the Hispanic community continues to grow in the area, and there may be some disconnect between law enforcement and this community. Rolling Hills Church has a mission for outreach to the Hispanic community, which was a natural fit for this event. They partnered with Grant County Law Enforcement to develop this event to connect law enforcement with the Hispanic community. Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman says they hope that through this event, law enforcement will better understand the needs of the Hispanic and other minority communities here in Grant County.
