On August 31, 2022 at approximately 9:27 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle crash, with injures, on Hwy 18 at Old Hwy 18 Rd. in Wingville Township. Grant County Sheriff’s deputies, Montfort Fire/EMS, along with Fennimore EMS were dispatched to the scene.
The investigation showed 33 year old, Sara Novinskie of Montfort and her three young children, were stopped in the middle of the west bound lane of Hwy 18 at Old Hwy 18. Novinskie had her left turn signal on and was waiting for traffic to clear to turn onto Old Hwy 18 in her 2021 Chrysler Pacifica when 72 year old Alan Myers, rural Platteville, was driving his 2006 Buick La Crosse west on Hwy 18. Myers wasn’t able to get stopped in time and ran into the rear of the Novinskie van. Mr. Myers vehicle was disabled in the middle of Hwy 18, while the Novinskie stopped at the shoulder of Hwy 18.
Myers was transported to Southwest Health Center in Platteville with minor injures. Myers was wearing his seat belt and he was cited for Auto following too close. Novinskie was wearing her seat belt and all three of her children were in car seats. Novinskie and one of the children drove to a local hospital, by private vehicle, for medical evaluation. The Myers vehicle was a total loss and the
Novinskie vehicle received heavy damage to the rear of the van. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by Haase’s Towing.
